Trip to the park and fun in the class on PhotoPeach

The children in Reception have been working very hard over the last few weeks! We have done lots of reading and writing.

We have been reading the story ‘The Runaway Tractor’.  The children have designed and made a story box creating their own tractor adventure.  We have made short films of the children telling their story and  the children have then written their own story book. 

Both Miss Hunt and Mrs Lowndes are so impressed with the quality of work the children have produced. Keep up the hard work Reception!!

Last week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes! We all thought they were so yummy!

Next term we are going to be learning about Transport. Our Big Question will be ’How do you get there?’

We will be learning about lots of different ways to travel and talking about our own experiences.

Please can we ask you to collect any boxes, yoghurt pots, plastic bottles etc. For us to use after half term to make models of transport.

Learning through play on PhotoPeach

In reception we like to play outside as much as we can. We can play on the bikes, scooters and climbing frame.

Recently we have also started having PE lessons in the hall. We have talked about why it is important to keep fit, and the changes in our body when we exercise.

We have acted out stories through music and dance, and have also been practising travelling in different ways and balancing on the beams.

It is so much fun, we love PE!

Keeping Fit! on PhotoPeach

A few weeks ago we celebrated Chinese New Year. One way we celebrated this celebration in class was by making our very own stir fry. We first made a list of ingredients that we would need to buy from the shop, we needed lots of vegetables and noodles. The next day we watched Mrs Lowndes as she cooked it and then we all got to try some! We used our senses and talked about what it smelt of and what it tasted like. As you can see from the photographs most of us thought it was really yummy!

Reception Class 4KH on PhotoPeach

Wow we have had a busy few weeks in Reception Class 4KH!!

Before half term we had lots of fun getting to know each other, asking why we are special and exploring our senses. We made texture paintings and tasted lots of different fruits, we enjoyed most of the fruits but most of us didn’t like lemon – it was very sour! Look at Leo’s photograph for evidence!

After half term we have been learning about Diwali and celebrated this festival by making little diva lamps and lots of Rangoli patterns. We are learning about Eid next week before starting a new big question based around Winter. Brrr!!!

Our big question this half term is “Why am I special?”

To understand why we are special so far we have enjoyed painting self portraits, using our five senses to explore our surroundings and comparing photographs of us as babies and photographs of us now.
